Salient Features of Process/Technology: The silkworm races, traditionally used by the cottage industry, yield 20-25 kg cocoons/100 eggs. With the use of a high yielding variety, 23-40 kg. Cocoons/100 eggs can be produced with a disease resistant. Integrated sericulture technology is available including model rearing house, moriculture, silkworm rearing, disease control measures etc. Status of Commercialisation: Demonstrated to large number of cottage production units. Minimum Economic Unit Size: 200 kg cocoon/yr Indicative Investment: Rs. 2.0 lakh Equipment and Machinery: Rearing sheds, rearing equipment. Raw Materials: Mulberry cuttings, silkworm.
